The Shelby Family
We are the Shelby Family, we took over the Crown tenancy at Benningholme Grange in April 1995 and we moved up from the Bingham estate in Nottingham to live and farm here. Originally we just took on Benningholme Grange Farm but in 2017 we also took on the tenancy at Benningholme Hall. We have always been a mixed farm, growing crops and keeping sheep and pigs. In recent years we have swapped pigs for cows and added potatoes to the crop list. We are now looking to diversify into recreation as well.
The family is made up of Chris and Marianne, their children are Guy who runs the arable side of the business and David who runs the livestock side. Both of them are now married with children who enjoy being on the farm. The extended family also help out, Uncle Simon is a major part of the operation, with everyone pulling together at busy times of the year. We enjoy living in this area and being part of the community.
